Fashion Week in NYC!!

A coincidence surely . . . I just finished reading "The Gospel According to Coco Chanel" and Fashion week begins in NY today! This show started in 1943 to showcase American designers and was held in different hotels and lofts throughout the city. In 1994 it was moved to beautiful Bryant Park and most recently to the renovated Lincoln Center. NY Fashion Week opens up the fall season showings. Other venues include London, Paris and Milan. These shows allow designers to showcase their latest designs. Buyers can see the latest trends and the industry can find out what is "in" and "out" for the season. Unfortunately, access is by invite only and as you can imagine, the "in crowd" is in attendance. Luckily, the internet has brought us closer and there are many viewing opportunities right from your computer. The official website for Fashion Week will give you the whole schedule of events. Meanwhile, the NY Times has presented an internet schedule of events you can actually attend online! Find out what you will be seeing in your local department store in the Fall!
