Look Up!

Where is it written that a ceiling must be a simple shade of flat white paint?  Well, sometimes that may be just what your room needs.  But not always.  We found some beautiful images that show just what you can do to your ceiling to make it another decorating surface rather than a holder for your chandelier.

This fabulous ceiling compliments of Coastal Living Magazine is constructed of wood to resemble the hull of a ship.

We might even add Arterior's Jada wire-wrapped chandelier to bring out the natural texture and tone of the wood ceiling.  And for the side table, Arterior's Hammered Nickel Abernathy 31" coastal lamp to give your room just a little shine.  Add our Bodega Distressed Mirror to reflect your space.

Looking for a simpler solution?  This lovely living room from Southern Accents has an off-white painted wood ceiling to bring out the distressed, dark hardwood flooring.

To bring a little more of the seaside in, we could replace the chandelier with a natural shell creation from Arteriors.

And maybe a simple coconut bead pendant chandelier over the dining table . . .

A simple cottage-inspired white painted beadboard ceiling from Cottage Living Magazine leaves the rest of the room to be decorated as you desire.  Keep the bedding white, or splash your favorite color here.  We would add Regina Andrew's distressed driftwood wall sconces and their wicker table lamp.

For a truly unique ceiling, take a cue from this nautically-inspired bedroom from Coastal Living Magazine.  Hang a wood boat or old surfboard from the ceiling rafters!

So, the next time you are looking to make a decorating change, look up and see the possibilities!
